Fibre concrete is the term used for concrete to which aggregate / strengthening material has been added. The objective of adding this material is to improve the concrete's properties. Typical materials added are steel, glass and plastic fibres. The addition of such fibres results in an improvement of the tensile and compressive strength, the cracking strength following rupture and in a reduction of shrinkage cracks.
