foul air trap (horizontal & vertical)

Foul air traps are inserted between the channel run and the canal (sometimes inside trash boxes). They prevent foul air and unpleasant odours from the canal system from escaping. Usually, the foul air trap consists of a bent piece of pipe (U-bend) filled with water, or of an external container inside of which is an internal container with an overflow edge.
